Accelerating Value Capture: The Archway Foundation Grants Program

The Archway Protocol’s mission is to empower web3 builders in all the stages of development: from inception to deployment. By enabling developers to capture the value they create for their dapp creations, Archway fundamentally shifts the current economic paradigm of the blockchain industry.

Dedicated to the advancement and adoption of the Archway Protocol, the Archway Foundation is looking to provide both resources and services to grow and accelerate a diverse and thriving developer ecosystem. As such, the Archway Foundation is launching the Archway Foundation Grants Program.

What is the Archway Foundation Grants Program?

Overview

The Archway Foundation Grants Program aims to support committed builders that want to create tooling, conduct research, build dapps, and more to advance and grow the Archway ecosystem.

With developers at the ecosystem’s forefront, this program aims to accelerate the development of public goods and resources available to the wider Archway builder community, all while supporting its members.

Values

The program will embody the Archway Protocol’s key principles through its design, implementation, and execution. The Program’s key values are transparency, fairness, accountability, collaboration, and growth.

Through widely available information and documents, Archway’s community will have full visibility into the decision-making framework and results, promoting transparency.

To adhere to fairness, all applications will be objectively evaluated based on explicitly stated criteria.

Both the foundation and receiving developers will stand behind their contributions, enforcing accountability.

Funded contributions will all be open-sourced, and designed to benefit and support the community in the spirit of collaboration.

Finally, the program’s implementation will ultimately work toward the growth of the Archway ecosystem, to benefit us all.

Focus Areas

As long as it aligns with the Archway mission, no idea is too big or too wild. This program aims to foster creativity and curiosity in order to achieve innovation and discovery.

With diversity in mind, the grant program will be funding both technical and community oriented initiatives. While all ideas are welcome, a few of the areas the program will be focusing on initially are:

• Applications
• Developer Tooling
• Infrastructure
• Governance + DAOs
• Community Building
• Research

How does the Archway Foundation Grants Program work?

Evaluation Criteria

A Grants Committee consisting of interdisciplinary key contributors from across the ecosystem will be elected by the Archway community, and will be entrusted with overseeing the program. However, the committee will always report back to the community, and will always represent and uphold the values of the Archway ecosystem.

As such, the committee will be judging proposals based on the following criteria:

• Novel and Unique Contributions Get creative! Find ways to leverage the protocol’s unique value capture engine and community.
• Open and Public Goods: No Gatekeeping please! The committee will be looking to support contributions that will be available to everyone. From highly technical to more community-oriented endeavors, everything should be designed and created in the spirit of open-source.
• Ability to Execute: Walk the walk! Teams should be able to showcase their ability to execute and potential to bring their proposals to life.
• A Clear Path Forward: Lead the way! Teams should have a clear understanding of how they will be allocating funds, executing their proposals, and launching their project.
• Ecosystem Commitment: Go big or go home! Builders and contributors should be genuinely aligned with the Archway mission and want to work toward the long-term success of the protocol.

The Process

The Archway Foundation will be accepting applications on a rolling basis, and qualifying teams will be notified every 4–6 weeks.

Applications will only be accepted via this form.

Once accepted into the program, the committee and team will work together to define a roadmap to launch. Additional support will be provided by Archway’s core contributing team as needed.

The Funding

Teams will be able to apply for grants worth $5,000 and up. Exact amounts will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
