The time is near! Archway will soon be launching its first incentivized testnet — Torii.

Torii will be the final phase of testing in the lead up to mainnet. The idea is to see how the network operates under realistic conditions, so we can pinpoint and address any potential flaws before launch.

So this is your shot to dive deep on the protocol, become a true OG in the ecosystem, and help push toward a seamless transition to mainnet! 🚀

…oh, and did we mention there will be tokens rewards?

How will the Torii incentivized testnet work?

The program will run across multiple phases, each of which is designed to test various dimensions of the network and grow the overall ecosystem.

Validators, developers, and community members will participate in a series of competitive tasks and guided challenges. With each challenge, participants will have the opportunity to earn tokens.

In total, ~0.5% of the token supply will be distributed to winners! (more details on this coming soon)

To ensure we assemble a diverse and representative set of participants, the program is focused across several distinct themes:

  • Node Operations — performing technical tasks related to operating a validator and testing core protocol features (running a node, performance stress testing, etc.)
  • Feature Testing — targeted testing of Archway’s unique new features. Let’s see if we can break the economic model (economic exploits, maxing out network rewards, sybil attacks, etc.)!
  • dApps + Tooling — building core applications (DEXs, NFT marketplaces, etc) and tooling that simplifies development workflows and developer onboarding (run CLI in local env, contract templates, etc)
  • Contributor Content — publishing creative content that raises awareness and educates the broader community on the value and benefits to Archway, why it’s important, and what that means for developers.

Wen Torii?

While Torii is dependent upon a few moving parts, we are currently aiming to launch on April 11, 2022 and the program will run for a duration of approximately 30 days.

This provisional timeline is subject to change, so definitely make sure you join the Discord and follow our channels for updates and announcements.

Why get involved?

Aside from being tons of fun, the Torii testnet presents some unique opportunities to get involved early and play a key role in kickstarting the ecosystem:

🏆 Get Rewards

Participants are able to get token rewards for successfully completing challenges. This is your chance to gain a true stake in the protocol, and contribute toward further decentralizing the community.

🧑‍💻 Getting Familiarized with Archway

This testnet will prepare you and your fellow participants for a seamless mainnet transition. We all want to avoid any last minute surprises! Torii serves as a focused period to become acquainted with the Archway stack, with direct support from core development teams throughout the process.

🗣️ Helping Shape the Protocol

As an early contributor, your voice and input are vital to the long-term success of the network. Working closely with core teams, you’ll have the channels to directly share feedback that helps guide the future direction of the protocol.

👾 Building Your Reputation

Torii provides a platform to establish your presence as a strong and early contributor in the community, whether you’re a validator aiming to attract delegations or a dApp developer bootstrapping a user base.

Who can participate?

Torii is open to any and all members of the community to participate, but please note — not all participants are eligible for rewards.

We welcome validators, developers, and community members of all stripes to get involved, however, the following groups will not be eligible to receive rewards — Phi Labs and All in Bits employees and contractors, U.S. residents, and residents of prohibited jurisdictions.

Additionally, while it is indeed a competition, everyone must play nice and remain decent to one another. Those who violate the rules of engagement or code of conduct, use social engineering attacks to exploit competitors, or use malware to attack other participants is grounds for disqualification. Be cool, folks!

Please note, claiming rewards will require completing identity verifications.

How to join?

Submit this form to register your interest in participating and you’ll be notified shortly about specific next steps.

What’s next?

Stay tuned as we will soon be publishing additional details on the specific timelines, challenges and tasks, rewards, onboarding instructions and documentation, and more.

Be sure to join the Discord, where we’ll be making all announcements and you can engage with the core teams as well as other participants.

In the meantime, start digging into the Archway validator docs and spin up your own node on the current testnet. 😉
